You have to go from A to B, before thinking about Z
💌 215 words ⌛ 1 minute
Take one step after another. Nothing worthwhile is accomplished in a single step. This applies to you as a manager and to your team too. Before focusing on a shiny result at the end of a long process, focus on a solid foundation. Move from A to B to C, and don’t get distracted by thoughts of Z yet.
Why it matters: If you fixate on those amazing results, you’ll demotivate both yourself and your team. The gap between now and then can feel overwhelming. Approach your work in manageable iterations.
Dig deeper:
Create achievable milestones: Know the next few steps and lay them out clearly.
Celebrate small wins: Acknowledge small victories by motivating yourself and your team. Otherwise, you risk feeling starved for recognition over time. This will drag morale down.
Stay flexible: If something doesn’t work as planned, fix it. Don’t cling to one approach; learning is part of the journey.
Be patient: Change takes time. Trust the process and don’t rush it.
Reflect: There’s something to learn at every stage of the journey. Take time to recognize those lessons.
What's your story? How do you make sure to stay on track when pursuing bigger projects? I'd love to hear from you.
